The title is just plain silly. RBC (Royal Bank) had a mobile banking app like 8-10 years ago that ran on the palm pilot, I used it with a cdpd modem from telus. They’ve had webbased mobile banking for at least the past 4 or 5 years.
Hi Harondel – Thank you for leaving the comment! It’s always great to hear feedback :) You’re absolutely correct that other banks have offered mobile banking through mobile browsers; however CIBC is the first to roll out the “iPhone App”. I’ve used/demoed the other mobile platforms and they aren’t nearly as seamless as the iPhone app, IMHO. Just heard through the grapevine though that TD and Royal Bank will be rolling out their iPhone apps before the end of the year.
Ahh, gotcha, CIBC is the first Canadian bank to roll out Mobile Banking App for the iPhone ;-)
And yes, ease of use with the older apps did leave something to be desired, so I am with you on that one!
